ISLAMABAD, Sep 16 (APP): Caretaker Minister for Health Dr. Nadeem Jan on Saturday said that a coordinated and effective strategy has been formulated on an emergency basis in Polio high-risk areas in Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During a meeting with Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and Inspector General Police Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, the caretaker Minister for Health discussed in detail the polio situation in Southern KP.
The minister said that Southern KP is the center of poliovirus and added that a comprehensive strategy is being implemented in Southern KP to prevent transmission of poliovirus.
He said that the top officials of the polio program have been posted in Bannu with set goals for eradication of polio to these top officers.
Nadeem Jan said that a task has been given to stopping the spread of poliovirus in any case till December.
He added a top-quality polio campaign is being started.
He said that frontline polio workers are the real heroes of our program.
He directed that strict security measures should be ensured during the polio campaign.
He said polio teams perform their duties even in adverse conditions to save our children from polio disease.
“Protecting the lives of polio workers is the primary responsibility of the state.”
He said that the government is determined to eradicate polio from the country.
He added the government has created an integrated strategy on the border with Afghanistan.
The Chief Secretary assured foolproof security arrangements for the protection of polio workers across the province.
